New features in Gmail

Hi,

Gmail, the Leading giant in Email services have recently introduced few new cool features which will help us to use emailing more smartly.

To Use these features click on gear icon on right hand side (image 1) and click on "Try new gmail"  (image 2).  After selecting this option, it will immediately load new gmail interface.

Features?

1.  Attachment Preview:
You can now view your attachments without opening email (Image 3)

2. Mail Operation Shortcuts:
If you take your mouse on any email, it will display Archive, Delete, Mark As Read and Snooze option there itself. (image 4)

3. Snooze Email:
This feature is introduced in this version only.  As we snooze our alarms, in the same way you can snooze your emails to refer it later.  It will display in your inbox at the time you specified (Image 5 & 6)

4. Calendar, Keep and Tasks from Gmail:
You can now operate Calendar, Keep and Google Tasks right from gmail.  You need not to open separate window for same.

5. Secret Email with Expiry: 
If you want to send secret email and you want specific person to open it, it's possible from Gmail now.

In compose mail, select "Turn Confidential Mode On/ Off" on right hand bottom side (image 8)

After clicking on this you can set expiry of that mail (for eg: 1 day or week) (image 9)

If you want that mail to be opened by specific person only then you can select "SMS Passcode" option.  It will ask you recipient mobile number. (image 10)

When you send email it will look like image 11.

If you have selected "No SMS Passcode" while sending an email then user can directly view email.  But if you have selected "SMS Passcode" option then the person will receive passcode in SMS on mobile number you have set while sending email.  He can open email only if he has that passcode.  In both the cases email will expire after the time you specified for expiry.


6. Smart Reply:
This feature was already there in Gmail mobile app.  Gmail will read your email and automatically create reply based on that.  You can directly select that reply and send it. (image 12)

If you wish to go back to your old gmail, just click on Gear icon again and click "Go Back To Classic Gmail" (image 13)

Today I came across with one portal recommended by my friend.  His 2.5 years old nephew is admitted to hospital and he needs the fund of Rs. 10 Lac stated in his WhatsApp message.  "I have registered with "Impact Guru" and have received some of the help", he said.  I immediately went through the website and found it interesting.   Reviews were also good for this portal.  At many places on Google, it was mentioned to be topmost fundraising portal in India.

If you find any patient who needs fund for his medication, you can definitely recommend this portal to him.  You need not pay any amount while you register on the portal.

Just follow these steps.

1.  Describe your situation in the format of Text / Image / Video. You can add your hospital reports and other details to which will make it more transparent.

2. Input fund requirement and duration

3. Share this information on social media through this portal and insist your friends to do same.

4. This portal will deduct 5% of the received amount, the payment gateway will deduct transfer charges and rest of the amount will be transferred to your account.

Bigbazaar Offer Scam

I have received one link on WhatsApp from two or three friends of mine.  Bigbazaar is offering Rs.5000 voucher as the message described. The domain name was almost same as big bazaar domain name.  These kind of offers are generally tempting.  Even the registration date of the domain was yesterdays date, 10th April 2018.  There was a slight doubt.  I clicked on that link.  There were 4 subsequent questions.  After submitting answers it asked to share that offer on 20 groups on WhatsApp.  Only clicking on that link was incrementing the counter.  There wasn't need of sharing.  When I tried from my iPhone it asked me to download few apps.  It's always risky to download such kind of apps as these apps can infect your mobile.  When I tried on android it was navigating to the youtube video.

Hacker generally tries following things with these activities. 

1. Increase downloads of such apps

2. To infect your mobile 

३. To waste people time

४. To increment youtube views

Facebook and Child

"Cuteness Overloaded", I watched a nude photo of a 1 or 2-year-old girl on my Facebook newsfeed and was stunned for two minutes. In fact, there was no such thing as a different one.  Because the little gang is moving in such a state of unconsciousness at home and everyone feels very appreciated.  But I was thinking about how fair it was to post that innocent child on social media.

At present, people have taken this message very seriously, "Write something here" and they keep on posting anything.  Especially I have found child photograph's many times.  In this regard, when I was searching for information on the internet, I found that 1500 photos on an average parent upload to their social sites until the age of 5 years of the child. And in that Facebook is very ahead and then there is an Instagram.  In fact, Facebook is a very useful tool for conveying your thoughts or your personal, professional information to the masses. I always like to reach out to my loved ones or friends, but as my medium is open for everyone, Is it ok to upload information there? We have to ask ourselves this question.  

I had once suggested my friend by seeing such a photo of his child, and I got expected answer from him, "I have set this to be seen by friends who are in my friend list". That friend is a tech-savvy person.   Its understood that this setting will allow Facebook to show this information to your friends only, but do you really have all your friends in your friend list who are known to you? Have you verified them before adding them to your friend list?

Apart from this, all of us do not know an unwritten rule of social networks, or we may forget that, if you post anything online, even though you have privacy settings, you never know how that will proceed further.  You will not have control over it.  And besides, as per terms and conditions from facebook agreed by you, your contents can be used by Facebook for its interest.   In fact, Facebook and Google now know you better than yourself. I will focus on that topic in any of my next articles.

The person's permission is necessary to use or upload any photo of him. But, because of being so small and playing the role of motherhood, all of us do it under curiosity. In a country like France, this type of action considered as crime and person has to pay the penalty of huge amount.

Be sure to think about the following, before uploading anything about your child on social media : 

1. Do you really need to upload this information? If you really want to give this information to close relatives then why not email them?

2. Many of your smartphones, unknowingly, store information about the location captured with photos in that image. While sharing such photos, are you sure that it is safe and secure when you share information about your private locations on the social media?

3. Currently, Child Pornography is very dangerous crime happening all over the world.  Are you inviting that with your child photo?

4. I am uploading this information today and when my son / daughter be at a particular age, will he/she be happy to see that or feel humiliated? Will he have some trouble with that information?

I have covered many of these things in my previous articles. Because I had asked one question about this, I thought it necessary to write this article. It's not compulsory that whatever I have mentioned will happen and even not compulsory that it may not happen.  Therefore, it is your choice how to use social media.   I just wanted to make sure that, all my close friends like you might know about the hacks in this case.

Whatsapp for business

Whatsapp have changed definition of communication in past few years.  We were using whatsapp for our business as well.  I wanted to know the exact difference so i installed this Application.  Frankly i didn't found any major difference in both apps but this application has some features which may be useful for SME's.   Few of the website has their own dedicated messenger, in the same way we can use this application as dedicated messenger.

Whats New?

1. You can update your profile information so that person you are chatting with can view your business profile.

2.  You can set default Away message.

3. You can set default replies

Lets explore in detail.

Installation

1. Search Whatsapp Business on google and install it

2. After installation it will show Terms and Conditions screen.  Click on Agree And Continue.

3. As other application needs permission in android, this application will ask you for same.  Click  "Allow" button.

4. Enter your business mobile number.  If you are using this number for your regular whatsapp then you cannot enter it here.  You need different number for this application.  If you have dual sim mobile then you can use another number for this application and if you don't have then you need to buy another phone and simcard.

5. Click next and after that Ok on next confirmation screen.

६. It will ask you permission to read SMS.  Click Allow.  It will not verify your number through OTP

7. On the next screen it will ask you for your business name.  Please be careful before entering as you may not be able to change afterwards.  You can also upload your profile picture from here.

    

६. During setup it will ask you for Business Name, Business Type, Location, Description of Business, Email and Website.  Enter that information and click save.

You are done with your installation now.

New Features:

1. Away Message

When you are not online, this feature will send automated message to user if tried to ping you on whatsapp.  To enable this feature, click on 3 dots on right hand side of Whatsapp Business.  Click on Settings then on Business Settings.

On Business Settings page click on Away Message.

Turn on Send Away Message   You will find one default message here.  You can change that message by clicking on pencil icon.  After setting message click on Save button on top right side.

2. Greeting Message

If you customer message you for the first time, this feature will help you to greet them with nice message.  To enable this feature click on Settings -> Business Settings -> Greetings.

 

Turn on Send Greeting Message.   Here also you may find default message which can be changed by clicking on pencil icon.  After setting message click on Save button on top right hand side.


3.  Quick Replies

Many a time, message format of replies is fixed and we need to type those messages repeatedly.  To avoid this repeatition Whatsapp Business have given this feature.  To eable click on Settings -> Business Settings -> Quick Replies

You may find one default reply for Thanks message.  You can change it anytime.  To add new reply click on + icon on the right side bottom.   After adding Message and Shortcut click on Save button on top right hand side.  You will find this new reply in Quick Replies list

Whenever your customer check your profile he will find all the business profile information entered by you.

This Application was recently launched and with basic feature.  Down the line, we may get many interesting feature with this App.

Facebook birthday reminders on mobile

Facebook is an effective tool to connect with the world. Few people use it for business purpose too.  One of the best option of facebook is birthday reminder.  But if you are not regular facebook user you cannot get these reminders.   To overcome this there is an option to link your Facebook events to google calendars.  

1. Log in to your facebook account on your laptop or desktop.

2. You will find "Events" option on the left-hand side of your timeline.

3. On the right-hand bottom side of the event page, you will find an option like "You can add events to Google Calendar".  It has two options

- Upcoming Events

- Birthdays

4. Right click on birthdays and select "Copy Link Address" option

5. Login to your Gmail account which is configured on your mobile.

6. You will find 9 dots on right top, select Calendar option in that

7. On the left side, you will find option Add a Friends.  Click on + button and select  From URL

8.  In the box right click and select paste option

9. Don't click "Make this Calendar Publicly Accessible)" option

10.  Click on "Add Calendar" button.

11. You will find the new calendar in "Other Article" section and all birthdays on your Facebook calendar.

१२. Open calendar in mobile.  Click on three dots on right-hand side and click settings.  Click on your email account and select new calendar added to sync.

Read deleted messages on Whatsapp

It was a real pleasure to receive an update from WhatsApp in which you can delete a message on WhatsApp which has been sent by mistake.  I had explained this feature in detail in my previous article (Undo Send on Whatsapp).  But as the deleted message is replaced by the statement "This message was deleted", it made people more curious about the deleted message.   Now it's easy to read that deleted message.

How to Use It?

1.  For this you need to download a third party app "Notification History) from Google Play Store.  (There are many applications with the same name.  Please check the logo)

२. You need to set two permissions for this

- Go to mobile settings -> Accessibility Option -> Notification History and Enable It

 

- Go to mobile Settings -> Notification Access -> Notification History and Enable It

   

After this setting whenever you receive any message on mobile, this app captures that notification.  As you can recognize the time of message deletion you can go into that app and check the actual message sent.  You can search by the name of that person as well and it will display you result for that person from groups and personal chats
