The problem that we regularly encounter is, we register across many portals on the internet and we do not log in frequently on them which results in forget passwords. To avoid this situation, we tend to keep the same password or note it down somewhere. But to keep the same password for the sites that do not contain sensitive information and the sites that have important information is a bit risky.
Our Important and Secure accounts :
1. Bank Account (Login and Transaction Password)
2. Personal (Only self-access) E-mail accounts
3. Social Networking Sites
Other accounts :
1. Personal (Others can access) E-mail accounts
2. Sites which needs temporary login
We keep the same password for all above accounts which is risky and can help others to steal your information. Let's see the trick where you can keep different passwords for diferent accounts but still can remember them easily.
To keep your password strongere we need 3 things.
1. Letters (Small & Capital)
2. One or more special characters
3. Numbers
We can make the combination of all of them. Suppose you are preparing password for yahoo account then formal would be like this,
{xyz}{@}{Yahoo}{Number}
{xyz}
Here you should use the name which has nothing to do with your life. You must not use the name of your family members or relatives.
{@}
You can take any special character here. For example, @ or dot or # sign. Many of the sites do not accept question mark so its not advisable to use.
{Yahoo}
Name of the portal for which we are creating the password. Means here I have used Yahoo. For Facebook, you can use Fb or Facebook
{Number}
Here you can consider an important year of your life or any 4 or 6 digits number.
Please do not use your or family member's date of birth, your anniversary year.
In short, the format will look like this
sundaram#Yahoo2906 or sundaram#YAHOO2906
You can decide which letter to keep small or capital. You can decide your own format as well. With the help of this format, your different password for different portals will look like this.
GMail : sundaram#Gmail2906
ICICI Bank : sundaram#Icici2906
HDFC Bank : sundaram#Hdfc2906
Facebook : sundaram#Facebook2906
Twitter : sundaram#Twitter2906
For the other sites which are not secured you can keep common password so that whenever you login you need not to remember password.
For few of the bank accounts, you cannot keep same password for login and transaction. In that case, if your login password is sundaram#Icici2906 then your transaction password will be SUNDARAM#iCICI2906. That means only the difference of small and capital letters.
I am using this technique for many years. Passwords are different still easy to understand.
